Dr. Michael Brandt
Dr. Brandt is a dual certified Otolaryngologist – Head & Neck \ and Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon with a practice focused on cosmetic and reconstructive facial surgery. He is certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons and the American Board of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery. Dr. Brandt is widely known for his patient-centred approach and meticulous attention to detail.

Dr. Brandt's Story
Dr. Brandt is a caring husband and dedicated father of three. He was born in Johannesburg, SouthAfrica and immigrated to Toronto, Canada at a young age. Dr. Brandt grew up in Richmond Hill, Ontario and attended high school at Bayview Secondary School. Throughout much of high school and university, Dr. Brandt committed his spare time to practicing Taekwondo and Ninjutsu. Obtaining a black belt in Taekwondo and a 1st Kyu black strip in Genbukan Ninpo Bugei, Dr. Brandt successfully competed at the local, provincial, and national levels in open martial arts competitions. He was honoured to represent Canada at the 15th Maccabiah Games in Tel Aviv, Israel.
During medical school, Dr. Brandt was captivated by the intricate anatomy of the head and neck and the creativity required to operate in this complex area. His interests became his passion and inspired Dr. Brandt to pursue surgical residency training in Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery.
Sought after by several Otolaryngology training programs, Dr. Brandt chose the program at Western University, as it was the only one offering completely integrated training in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the time. During his five-year residency, Dr. Brandt was honoured with numerous awards for teaching and research, several of which earned him both national and international recognition. Most notably, Dr. Brandt won the Canadian National Otolaryngology Resident Research Competition in his first-year of residency – an achievement never before attained by a first-year trainee. Dr. Brandt was also the first Canadian to be awarded the prestigious American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Benjamin Shuster Memorial Award for research. These accomplishments combined with a solid knowledge base, meticulous surgical skills, and a kindhearted personality assisted Dr. Brandt in obtaining a coveted American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship position at the University of Michigan – widely recognized as the top international fellowship program in reconstructive facial plastic surgery.
At the University of Michigan, Dr. Brandt completed one year of intense training in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery under the tutelage of world-renowned surgeon and textbook author Dr. Shan Baker. During this time, Dr. Brandt also served as a Clinical Lecturer – caring for his own patients while supervising and teaching both surgical residents and medical students. Receiving several University of Michigan “Making a Difference Awards”, Dr. Brandt was adored by his patients and colleagues. Although he enjoyed the experience of working at one of the top Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery programs in the world, Dr. Brandt missed his family, friends, and Canada.
Dr. Brandt moved to Toronto in 2011 to start his practice in reconstructive and cosmetic Facial Plastic surgery. Shortly thereafter, Dr. Brandt attained a University Appointment as an Assistant Professor in the Division of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Department of Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery at the Temerty Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto – the largest Academic Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery program in Canada. In this capacity, Dr. Brandt is a sought after lecturer both nationally and internationally and has published over 40 articles in peer-reviewed academic journals and text-books.
Outside of Dr. Brandt’s clinical practice, he enjoys spending his time with this young family, Crossfit training, gardening, learning new martial arts, and serving on a variety of professional committees.
